Distance from the Luxor to the Aria – Can You Walk It?

By Steve Beauregard

It’s just about a mile exactly (or 1.6 kilometers), from the front door of the Luxor (by the Sphinx), to the front door of the Aria at City Center Place. It would take you around 20 minutes to walk it, making it a fairly easy walk, unless you’re doing it under a blazing Las Vegas sun.

The route is simply taking the Las Vegas Strip sidewalk north to City Center Place, then going left for another 700 feet or so to the front entrance of the Aria.

The easier and faster route, however, involves taking two free trams.

The distance from the Luxor to the Aria is one mile.
The distance from the Luxor to the Aria is one mile.

The first one is the free ride that transports guests from the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay and Back. There is a Luxor stop going north, so hop on it, getting off at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, which is at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.

From there, it’s about 1/3rd of a mile walk over the pedestrian bridge and past the New York-New York to the south entrance of the Park MGM Hotel and Casino.

Inside the Park MGM, meander your way past the craps and roulette tables back through the back of casino where you’ll take escalators upstairs, where you’ll find both a walking entrance to the far south end of the Aria, or – if you prefer – a tram station that will take you further to the middle of the Aria.

Bus (the Deuce) From the Luxor to the Aria

A bus ride from the Luxor to the Aria would take you about 25 to 30 minutes. This does not include time spent waiting for the Deuce (the Las Vegas Strip bus route), but does include walking time to and from the bus stations.

(Go here for prices and passes for the Deuce bus system),

You’ll get on at the bus stop on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip (the airport side), towards Mandalay Bay. It’s a four to five minute walk to this bus stop from the front of the Luxor.

You’ll then have a 13 to 15 minute bus ride, where you’ll get off at the stop in front of Planet Hollywood. From there you’ll cross over to the other side of the Strip, either by the Bellagio, or going down and taking the pedestrian bridge south of Planet Hollywood, to the City Center’s Crystal shopping mall.

Going through the shopping mall will take you to the Aria. It’s about a 7 to 10 minute walk from the Planet Hollywood bus stop.

Also note that taking the SDX, rather than the Deuce, is not really a viable option here, as the nearest SDX stop to the Aria is much farther than Deuce bus stops on this section of the Las Vegas Strip

In fact, while I love the Deuce for its low fares and convenience, I’m not a fan of taking it from the Luxor to the Aria. It appears to be much simpler (and faster), to just take the two free trams and do a little bit of walking.

Taxi/Uber/Lyft Fare from the Luxor to the Aria

Driving from the Luxor to the Aria

It’s probably more hassle than it’s worth, however if you want to drive from the Luxor to City Center, it would be just about a five minute drive, as it’s just 1.3 miles away.

When leaving the Luxor self-parking facilities (which are on the west side of the pyramid), you’ll want to get back on the Strip (you may have to first take Frank Sinatra Drive to either W. Reno Avenue north of the Luxor, or Mandalay Bay Road South of the Luxor.

Either way, go North on the Strip, taking a left right after the Park MGM (and immediately past the Waldorf Astoria, on City Center Place. On City Center Place, stay in the left lane. You’ll see the “Aria self-parking sign on your left.
