Linq Hotel & Casino to New York – New York. How Far is the Distance, and Can You Walk It?

By Steve Beauregard

Yes you can stroll to the New York – New York Las Vegas Hotel and Casino from the Linq Hotel and Casino, as it is only 1.31 miles away. Better still, there’s a free tram that can make the walking distance a lot less.

First though, if you plan on walking the entire way, taking in all of the sights along Las Vegas Boulevard (that’s the real name of the Las Vegas Strip), you’ll just want to head south out of the Linq. You can either cross the Strip using a pedestrian bridge at Caesars Palace, or use the one at Bally’s or at Planet Hollywood or the MGM – either way, you’ll want to make it on over to the other side of the Strip.

As I mentioned, it’s just about 1 and 1/3rd of a mile to walk from the Linq to the New York – New York, and would take you about twenty-five to thirty minutes to walk it.

Tram or Monorail from the Linq to New York – New York

A direct tram or monorail line from the Linq Hotel and Casino to the New York – New York does not exist, however taking the L.V. Monorail will get you there quickly and without much walking.

One of the nice features about the Linq, (in addition to being in the heart of the action), is that it has a Las Vegas Monorail station at the resort, (just behind it, to the east).

Getting on board here means you’ll have a quick and easy ride to the MGM Grand. As you may know, the New York – New York is directly across the street. Still, this being Las Vegas, it’s a little bit of a walk from the monorail station at the MGM Grand to the NY-NY. – .37 miles to be exact, using the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Strip.

If you don’t wish to pay for a monorail, you can do a little walking, then take a free tram from the Bellagio to the Park MGM Hotel and Casino, as this will cut your walking distance down a little.

To do this option, leave the Linq and use the pedestrian bridge to cross over to Caesars Palace, then over to the Bellagio. Once inside, look for the signs pointing you to the tram to Aria and Park MGM.

It’s a bit of a walk to the Bellagio monorail station from the Linq: .8 miles to be exact.

Once on the tram, you’ll get off at the last stop, the Park MGM/Aria stop. (The tram station straddles the two MGM Resorts International properties.)

From the Park MGM tram stop, it’s a .43 mile walk through the casino, to the Strip sidewalk then to the front entrance of the New York – New York. Combined with the .8 miles you walked from the Linq to the Bellagio tram station, you’re still having to walk 1.23 miles to get from the Linq to the NY-NY.

And because just walking the entire way on the Strip sidewalk without using the tram is only 1.31 miles, using the free Bellagio to Park MGM
tram doesn’t save you much on your feet. It does, however, let you stay inside an air-conditioned casino for a good portion of the way.

Bus (Deuce) from the Linq to New York – New York

It’s just about an eleven minute bus ride from the Linq to the NY-NY Hotel and Casino.

Very conveniently, there is a bus stop for what’s called the “Deuce” (the Las Vegas Strip bus system), across the street from the Linq , in front of Caesars Palace. This bus route heads south, where you’ll want to get off at the Park MGM stop. (The Park MGM is the closest Deuce bus stop to the New York – New York).

From the Park MGM bus stop, it’s just a .16 mile walk (about 4 or 5 minutes) to the northernmost entrance into the NY-NY Hotel and Casino.

Also worth noting is that taking the other Strip bus line, the SDX, is not a good option for this route, as there is not a SDX bus stop real close to the Linq.

Taxi/Uber/Lyft from the Linq to New York – New York

A cab ride from the Linq to the New York – New York will only cost you in the $11 to $12 area (before tip). A recent UberX estimate came in at $9.86 (before tip).

Driving from the Linq to New York – New York

At around 1.8 miles from parking garage to parking garage, it would only be about a ten minute drive between the resorts.

Leaving the self-parking area at the east side of the Linq, you’ll get on Koval Lane, which will lead you to E. Flamingo Road. From there, go right (west) towards the Las Vegas Strip, then taking a left on the Strip going south.

There is a little street right before you get to the New – York New York. Taking a right on this unnamed street will lead you to the hotel’s nine story parking garage behind the resort.
