Where is the Nearest Walmart Store to the Las Vegas Strip, and How Do You Get To It?

By Steve Beauregard

Whether you need to restock on groceries, aspirin, beer or t-shirts to replace the ones you got sick on, you’ll be glad to know there are two Walmarts nearby the Las Vegas Strip.

There are two Walmart stores close to the Strip, which we’ll refer to here as simply Tropicana and W. Charleston

Walmart Las Vegas Strip

1) Tropicana

The nearest one to you will depend on which part of the strip your hotel is situated.

In general however, when staying on the south end of the strip (by the airport), the store at 3075 E. Tropicana Boulevard, is the nearest Walmart to the Strip, at 3.5 miles away (or 5.6 kilometers). This is figured when starting from the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue.

This is the extremely busy intersection that is home to four of the largest casino/hotels in Las Vegas: the Excalibur, New York – New York, MGM Grand, and Tropicana Hotel and Casino. It would take you about 10 minutes to drive to Walmart from this intersection.

This Tropicana Boulevard store is the closest Walmart to the following Strip, (and near-Strip) hotels:

As for non-Strip hotels, it’s just a 2.7 mile drive from the Virgin Hotel to this Walmart.

This Walmart Supercenter is east of the strip, going towards, (and past), the airport. Once you’re on Tropicana Boulevard from the Strip, it’s a straight shot, with the store being on your right, exactly 3.5 miles from Strip.

As a side note, while the Tropicana Walmart is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the pharmacy is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. On Sundays, the pharmacy is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The main phone number for this Walmart is (702) 433-4267.

The pharmacy phone number is: (702) 433-4834

2) W. Charleston

The other Walmart close to the Las Vegas Strip is the Walmart Supercenter at 4505 W. Charleston Boulevard. This is on the west side of Interstate 15, east of the Strip (towards the Rio). It’s the closest Walmart to hotels and casinos on the north part of the Las Vegas Strip.

Having measured it personally, the cutoff point is both Caesars Palace and the Flamingo, by which I mean, if you are staying at a hotel south of Caesars Palace or the Flamingo, go to the Tropicana Boulevard Walmart.

However if you’re staying at a hotel north of Caesars Palace and the Flamingo, go to the one on Charleston Boulevard. Either way, Caesars Palace and the Flamingo are both approximately an 11 minute drive to either Walmart.

The Charleston Boulevard Walmart is the closest store to the following Strip (and nearby Strip) resorts:

To get there from most hotels on the Strip, the quickest way is to hop on I-15 going north, getting off at the Sahara exit.

(Here’s a map of the Walmart closest to the North Strip Resorts)

Take a left on Sahara and go 1.6 miles west, taking a right on Arville Street. From there, the Walmart will be just one mile up on your left.

A simpler, but longer route for most hotels mid-strip is to just stay on Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip) going north, taking a left on Charleston Boulevard. Once on Charleston, it’s about 2.5 miles, where the Walmart will be on your left.

FYI, Circus Circus to the nearest Walmart (Charleston) is a 4.1 mile drive, or about 10 minutes. Those of you staying at the Westgate can expect a drive just slightly longer, at 4.2 miles.

This Walmart’s main phone number is (702) 258 – 4540, while the pharmacy’s direct number is: (702) 258 – 5075.

Just like with the Walmart on Tropicana, the store is open all day, every day, while the pharmacy’s hours are as follows:

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sundays: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
