Stratosphere Casino Las Vegas, now The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower, combines a substantial casino, a large hotel, and a landmark observation tower near the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip. Tower views and the revolving Top of the World restaurant are its strongest reasons to visit. Its main limitation is location: this is not a convenient walking base for the central Strip. I think it makes the most sense for visitors who want to spend time at the property itself and have transportation planned for outings elsewhere.

Location: a landmark, not a central-Strip base

Being on Las Vegas Boulevard is not the same as being in the middle of the major resort cluster. The STRAT is north of that cluster, in the area linking the Strip with downtown. Neither the Bellagio fountains nor the Fremont Street Experience is just outside the door.

I would separate two decisions: whether to visit the tower and whether to sleep here. A tower outing can be worthwhile even when another hotel better fits your itinerary. Staying here makes more sense when dinner, gambling, and sightseeing at The STRAT form a meaningful part of the trip.

A lower advertised room rate is not much of a victory if you spend the savings getting back to the places you actually wanted to visit.

Casino floor and games

This is a substantial casino, not a few machines attached to a tourist attraction. The official STRAT FAQ describes an 80,000-square-foot gaming floor with 750 machines and 42 tables, including craps, blackjack, baccarat, and roulette.

Treat those figures as approximate planning information, not a promise that every table will be staffed. Published inventories differ by date, and the tables available when you arrive matter more than the total installed.

You do not need a tower ticket to visit the casino. Gambling here does not automatically include observation-deck admission.

Slots and video poker

The advertised machine inventory gives slot players plenty of floor to explore, but it does not establish the wager, rules, or payout schedule of a particular machine. Check the total bet before pressing the button. A small denomination on the screen does not necessarily mean a small spin.

For video poker, inspect the actual game and pay table before committing your bankroll. Do not assume a particular title or payout schedule will be available, and do not mistake video poker for a live poker room. A player’s winning or losing session tells you nothing reliable about whether the casino’s machines are more generous than those elsewhere.

Table games

The confirmed choices cover familiar Las Vegas essentials: blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette. Minimums and operating schedules can change with demand, so ask about current options rather than budgeting around an old minimum.

I would pay particular attention to blackjack payouts and posted rules, the roulette wheel format, and the odds limits at craps. Those details affect the price of playing far more than the view from the tower.

Poker room

The STRAT has no dedicated player-versus-player poker room. Video poker and poker-themed casino table games are different offerings.

William Hill sportsbook

The STRAT has a William Hill retail sportsbook, identified in Golden Entertainment’s 2025 corporate report.

Check counter hours and available services before making a special trip to place or collect a wager. Watching sports in a restaurant is separate from using the betting counter, and mobile-account requirements are separate again.

Hotel rooms: compare the category, not just the photograph

A November 2025 SEC-filed property overview reports 2,429 hotel rooms as of September 30, 2025. It also describes substantial room renovations, but that does not mean every room has the same finish or amenities.

The FAQ specifically associates mini refrigerators, in-room safes, and coffee makers with newly remodeled rooms rather than its standard amenity list. If any of those matters to you, confirm it for the category you are buying.

I would compare the named room category, included amenities, and cancellation terms before comparing the price. The most attractive photograph on a booking page is not necessarily the room attached to the lowest rate.

Check-in begins at 3 p.m., and checkout is at 11 a.m. Hotel check-in requires guests to be at least 21. Bring a physical government-issued ID and a physical payment card.

Resort fee and extra-person charges

The resort fee is $49.95 per room, per day, plus tax. Its tower benefit is discounted entry, not automatic complimentary admission.

The hotel also charges $25.00 per person, per night, plus tax for the third and fourth guests aged 12 or older. Maximum occupancy is four. Prepaying through a third-party booking site generally does not settle the resort fee or incidental deposit.

Gamboool’s cost and cash-flow comparison

Separate the room price, additional stay charges, and available card balance needed at check-in. They are not the same thing.

Gamboool original analysis

We assembled the comparison below from published information and our calculations. These are selected examples, rather than measured gambling sessions or a representative survey.

Detail Published information
The STRAT hotel: Daily resort fee and tower benefit The daily resort fee is $49.95 plus tax. Its tower benefit is discounted entry, not a promise of complimentary admission.
The STRAT hotel: Extra-person charges and room occupancy Third and fourth guests aged 12 or older each incur $25.00 per night plus tax; maximum room occupancy is four.
The STRAT hotel: Incidental hold versus permanent charges The hotel collects a daily $75.00 incidental hold, capped at $300.00 per stay, separately from the resort fee and tax.
The STRAT hotel: Debit-card deposit processing Debit-card funds are charged in advance, with unused funds refunded after checkout; the published bank-dependent processing estimate is 10–20 business days.
The STRAT hotel: Credit-card hold processing Credit cards receive a hold against available credit rather than the debit-card advance charge; the published release-processing estimate is 5–10 business days, depending on the bank.
The STRAT hotel: Standard versus nonrefundable booking deposits The standard booking deposit covers the first night’s room and tax; nonrefundable reservations require the entire stay plus tax upfront. Packages and promotional rates can differ.
The STRAT hotel: Standard versus nonrefundable cancellation policies Standard reservations require cancellation at least 72 hours before midnight on the arrival date for a deposit refund. Nonrefundable deposits are not returned, and promotional terms can vary.
The STRAT hotel: Third-party prepayment exclusions A prepaid third-party reservation generally does not settle the daily resort fee or applicable security/incidental deposit.
The STRAT parking: Self-parking, valet, and oversized published prices The listed rates are $22.00 for self-parking, $25.00 for Monday-through-Wednesday valet, $30.00 for Thursday-through-Sunday valet, and $40.00 for oversized parking. The passage does not specify the billing interval.
The STRAT parking: Nevada-plate self-parking exemption The amenities page grants complimentary daily garage self-parking to vehicles with a valid Nevada license plate, unlike the listed nonlocal-plate rate.
The STRAT parking: Rewards-tier parking eligibility Solid, Legit, and Epic True Rewards members are eligible for complimentary parking; members should obtain the applicable details from the rewards desk or their host.
The STRAT parking: Registered hotel guest reentry Registered hotel guests receive parking in-out privileges for their stay.
The STRAT pools: Family access versus adult-only access The FAQ describes Swim & Social as all-ages with adult supervision for minors under 18, while WET24 requires guests to be at least 21. Both are described as free for hotel guests with a room key and seasonally operated.
The STRAT pools: Seasonal closure notices The opened amenities page displays seasonal-closure notices for both pools alongside hour listings; those listings should not be treated as assurance that swimming is available.
The STRAT hotel: Smoking cleaning charges by room type Smoking or igniting flammable materials in a nonsmoking standard room carries a $500.00 cleaning charge plus tax, compared with $750.00 plus tax in a suite.
The STRAT Tower: Tower admission benefits by rewards tier Epic members receive complimentary admission for unlimited guests, while Legit members receive it for up to four people. True, Loyal, and Solid members are directed to exchange points for admission.
The STRAT hotel: Standard versus remodeled room amenities The FAQ specifically associates mini refrigerators, in-room safes, and coffee makers with newly remodeled rooms rather than listing them among the standard amenities.
The STRAT transportation: Airport shuttle availability The hotel does not offer an airport shuttle; it identifies taxis, Uber, and Lyft as alternatives without publishing a fare in this passage.
Calculation Result Takeaway
Resort fees for an illustrative three-night stay 149.85 US dollars, excluding tax and room charges Add the resort fee to every night when comparing a room offer; the advertised room rate alone is not the stay cost.
Extra-guest charges for four adults sharing a room for three nights 150 US dollars, excluding tax, resort fees, and room charges Sharing a room does not eliminate extra-person charges; compare the full occupancy price rather than dividing the headline rate among everyone.
Nightly resort and extra-guest fees for an illustrative four-adult room $99.95 per night, excluding tax, parking, and the base room rate For the illustrative four-adult booking, both occupancy charges and the resort fee belong in the nightly comparison.
Monday-through-Wednesday valet premium over paid self-parking $3.00 per posted parking charge; billing interval is not specified in the passage For visitors paying the listed rates, compare the valet convenience premium with self-parking before choosing; confirm the billing interval and any additional charges.
Thursday-through-Sunday valet premium over paid self-parking $8.00 per posted parking charge; billing interval is not specified in the passage The higher valet rate makes self-parking more attractive on these days for visitors without a parking benefit; confirm the billing interval before budgeting a longer stay.
Incidental hold for an illustrative three-night stay $225.00 temporarily held for incidentals, separate from stay charges Leave room in your available card balance for the incidental hold, and keep that temporary restriction separate from permanent hotel costs.

Method: Published inputs collected 2026-10-14. Illustrative assumptions are labeled, and the full calculation inputs remain in the saved research record. These examples support planning; they do not predict a particular session.

For an illustrative three-night stay, the resort fee adds $149.85 before tax, excluding the room rate and parking. If four adults share that room, the two additional-guest charges add another $150.00 before tax over those three nights.

In that four-adult example, resort and extra-person charges alone total $99.95 per night, before the base room rate, taxes, and parking. Price the reservation for the actual number of occupants rather than dividing a two-person headline rate four ways.

The incidental hold is separate: $75.00 per day, capped at $300.00 per stay. For the illustrative three-night stay, that is a $225.00 temporary hold, not a permanent hotel charge.

The hotel says debit-card funds are charged in advance, with unused funds refunded after checkout, and gives a bank-dependent processing estimate of 10 to 20 business days. Credit cards receive a hold against available credit, with an estimated release-processing period of five to 10 business days. I would avoid tying up money needed for the rest of the trip in a debit-card deposit.

Deposits and cancellation terms

Standard booking deposits generally cover the first night’s room and tax. Nonrefundable reservations require the entire stay plus tax upfront.

Standard cancellation terms require notice at least 72 hours before midnight on the arrival date for a deposit refund. Nonrefundable deposits are not returned, and package or promotional terms can differ. Read the terms attached to your reservation.

Restaurants and tower dining

Top of the World is the signature dining reason to come here. Its revolving dining room makes the setting part of the occasion. I would treat it as a planned destination meal: review the menu, reserve when the dinner is important to your plans, and read the seating and cancellation terms.

The restaurant requires business-casual attire. Published restrictions include shorts, tank tops, sports apparel, athletic shoes, and flip-flops. Arriving dressed for an afternoon by the pool is not a good dinner strategy here.

STRAT Café is a casual alternative, and Starbucks provides a familiar coffee stop. Check individual venue hours rather than assuming every restaurant follows the casino’s schedule.

Top of the World guests check in at a restaurant podium and use the VIP entrance. Observation-deck visitors use the main tower entrance with a tower pass. Do not assume a dinner reservation includes a separate observation-deck outing.

Tower attractions, pools, and amenities

The observation decks are The STRAT’s defining attraction. I like the distinction between a daytime outing, when the surrounding landscape is part of the appeal, and an evening visit focused on the city’s lights.

SkyJump has age, height, weight, and participation restrictions. Read them before buying a ticket, and check operating conditions for any attraction central to your visit. Shows and attractions have their own ticket arrangements.

The hotel has a 24-hour fitness center for guests aged 16 or older, with room-key access. It has no on-property spa.

Confirm pool availability before booking

The official amenities page displays seasonal-closure notices for both Swim & Social and WET24. Those notices matter more than the hour listings alongside them. Confirm reopening before choosing the hotel for pool time.

When operating, the FAQ describes Swim & Social as all-ages, with adult supervision required for children under 18. WET24 requires guests to be at least 21. Both are described as complimentary for hotel guests with a room key.

For non-hotel guests, FOX5’s March 18, 2026, season-opening report listed Swim & Social admission at $15.00 Monday through Thursday and $20.00 Friday through Sunday. Those are season-opening prices, not a guarantee of current admission or availability.

Parking and transportation

Use 2000 Las Vegas Boulevard South as your destination, and select the hotel entrance or parking garage rather than just the tower landmark. Plan transportation for central-Strip outings before booking. A substantial walk in desert heat is not the same proposition as a casual stroll between neighboring resorts.

The hotel has no airport shuttle. Its transportation page identifies dedicated Uber and Lyft pickup and drop-off arrangements, plus 24-hour taxi assistance at valet.

For transit, enter the address in the RTC interactive map to locate nearby bus stops, identify routes, and see the next four arrivals. Check the actual stop and wait before deciding between a bus and a rideshare.

Parking prices and exemptions

Posted self-parking is $22.00 for hotel guests and nonlocal plates. Valet is listed at $25.00 Monday through Wednesday and $30.00 Thursday through Sunday. The rate passage does not specify the billing interval, so confirm it before budgeting a multiday stay.

Against those posted charges, valet costs $3.00 more than paid self-parking Monday through Wednesday and $8.00 more Thursday through Sunday. This compares posted charges, not daily or whole-stay parking costs.

The amenities page grants complimentary garage self-parking to vehicles with valid Nevada plates. Other property pages also describe Nevada-ID eligibility, so locals using an out-of-state vehicle should confirm the procedure. Solid, Legit, and Epic True Rewards members are eligible for complimentary parking. Registered hotel guests receive in-out privileges.

Smoking and accessibility

Smoking and vaping are allowed in designated hotel rooms. Request the correct room type. Published cleaning charges for smoking in nonsmoking accommodations are $500.00 plus tax for a standard room and $750.00 plus tax for a suite. Recreational marijuana use is prohibited in hotel rooms, the casino, and public spaces.

If tobacco exposure is a deciding factor, ask directly about casino-floor arrangements and your route to the room or tower.

Accessible rooms and suites include options with wheelchair-accessible showers or tubs with shower chairs. Wheelchairs and motorized scooters can be rented through the bell desk. Arrange the specific features you need rather than relying on a general accessibility label.

True Rewards

The STRAT uses True Rewards, with benefits based on tracked play and membership terms. Joining is free; enroll at the rewards center with valid identification.

Parking and tower benefits deserve attention if you already have a qualifying tier. The FAQ describes complimentary tower admission for Legit and Epic members under different guest allowances. Lower tiers are directed to exchange points for admission.

Use benefits you have earned, but do not gamble more just to make a sightseeing ticket or room offer feel free.

Who The STRAT is best for

The STRAT suits visitors who want familiar casino games, tower sightseeing, and a revolving-restaurant dinner in one property, with transportation planned for the rest of Las Vegas. I would choose it for that combination rather than easy central-Strip walks or a spa-focused stay. Compare the room category and complete booking cost before calling it a bargain, and choose another resort if dependable pool access or repeated walks between central-Strip attractions are essential to your trip.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Stratosphere the same as The STRAT?

Yes. Stratosphere is the former name of the casino hotel and tower now branded The STRAT.

How old do you have to be to gamble at The STRAT?

You must be at least 21 to gamble. Hotel check-in also requires guests to be at least 21. Attractions and amenities have separate age rules.

Does The STRAT have a poker room or sportsbook?

It has a William Hill retail sportsbook, but no dedicated player-versus-player poker room.

Is tower admission included with the resort fee?

The published benefit is discounted tower entry, not universally free admission. Specific packages and qualifying rewards tiers can have different benefits.

Does The STRAT have a spa or airport shuttle?

No. The hotel states that it has neither an on-property spa nor an airport shuttle.

Are The STRAT’s pools open year-round?

No. They operate seasonally, and the amenities page displays closure notices for both pools. Confirm availability for your dates.

Is The STRAT a good choice without a car?

It can work if you are comfortable using taxis, rideshares, or transit. I would choose a more central hotel if your main plan is walking repeatedly between the central Strip’s major resorts.

Information and pricing date
