The Jurassic Park slot machine is a licensed IGT video slot based on Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film. It is built around movie clips, dinosaur symbols and several bonus rounds, and the original game added a group bonus played out on a giant Center Stage screen above a bank of machines. IGT followed it with Jurassic Park: Wild Excursion, which has its own free spins features and a T-Rex Chase bonus.
Versions of the Game
IGT has released the Jurassic Park name in more than one form. The two you are most likely to read about are:
- Jurassic Park: the original game, with three bonus features plus a group-play bonus shown on a giant Center Stage screen shared by a bank of machines. Several players take part in the same bonus, which gives the game a social feel closer to table games than to a standard slot.
- Jurassic Park: Wild Excursion: a later title introduced at the 2015 Global Gaming Expo. Its five reels have an unusual 5-4-3-4-5 shape, and wild symbols can expand the reels.
Both games use dinosaurs and characters from the film, and the bonus rounds and any linked jackpot are where the bigger wins come from.
Bonus Features
The original Jurassic Park mixes stacked wilds, free spins and bonus rounds. Its signature feature is the group bonus: players escape the theme park in a safety vehicle, choosing which path to take while dinosaurs give chase, with the action shown on the Center Stage screen.
Wild Excursion Features
- Wild Excursion Free Spins: a free spins feature that can award up to 120 free games.
- Cryogenic Free Spins: hosted by Mr. DNA, this feature starts with 10 free games and can grow to as many as 100, adding sticky wilds, extra spins or random win multipliers along the way.
- T-Rex Chase Bonus: a board game on a map of Isla Nublar with 10 positions. The T-Rex starts in the first position and you start in the fifth, and you collect suitcases worth credits or win multipliers before the dinosaur catches up.
Big Wins and Jackpots
Big wins on Jurassic Park come mainly from the bonus rounds. Whether a particular machine is linked to a progressive jackpot, and what bet it needs, depends on how the casino has set it up, so check the machine’s help screens. For how linked jackpots work, see our guide to progressive slots.
Can You Play Jurassic Park Slots Online?
IGT’s land-based Jurassic Park machines are casino-floor games. Online casinos in regulated states such as New Jersey carry their own lineups of online slots, which can include licensed movie-themed games, and you may see dinosaur-themed slots at offshore online casinos. Those are different games with different features and returns, so do not assume they match the IGT machine.
Offshore online casinos are not licensed by US state regulators. If you want to play online for real money, use a site licensed in your state where online casinos are legal.
