How Timber Wolf works
Timber Wolf plays on five reels with four symbols showing on each, which gives 1,024 ways to line up a win. The theme is a winter forest at night: a full moon over snow-covered trees, a howling wolf, an outdoorsman in a coonskin hat, a bear, a deer, an owl and a snow-covered cabin, with card ranks 9 to K paying the smaller wins.
The rules are easy to follow, and the game has only one bonus, so most of the action is the base game. Like any slot, it keeps a house edge, and long stretches without a big win are normal.
The Timber Wolf Feature Game
A winning spin that includes scattered owl symbols starts the Feature Game, which pays 12 free games. The full moon symbol drives the bonus:
- Full moon on reel 2: the win is multiplied by 3.
- Full moon on reel 4: the win is multiplied by 5.
- Full moons on reels 2 and 4: the win is multiplied by 15.
- Full moons on reels 2 and 4 after a losing spin: those two reels are held and the other three reels respin once, giving you another shot at a 15x win.
The 12 free games play quickly, so the whole feature takes only a few minutes.
Timber Wolf versions
Aristocrat has reused the Timber Wolf theme in several follow-ups:
- Timber Wolf Deluxe: lets you choose between 6 and 21 bonus games, with wild multipliers that get bigger when you pick fewer games.
- Timber Wolf Diamond: plays with 2,400 ways to win and adds four levels of cumulative free games with 2x to 4x multipliers, while keeping the original 3x and 5x full moon feature.
- Timber Wolf Mega Stampede: launched across North America in September 2026 on Aristocrat’s Baron Portrait cabinet. It combines Timber Wolf free games with a Hold & Spin bonus that unlocks extra rows, Super and Mega upgrades in which running wolves add cash values or multipliers to prizes, and Gold Timber Wolf symbols that trigger spins for progressive prizes.
Where to play Timber Wolf
Timber Wolf machines are found in land-based casinos, and the newest Mega Stampede version is rolling out across North American casino floors. The game is also available as an online slot at some regulated online casinos; which slot makers and titles a casino carries depends on your state, so check the game lobby.
