Sunset Station Casino in Henderson is an off-Strip casino hotel with slots, live table games, bingo, a sportsbook, and substantial entertainment beyond gambling. Its strongest selling point is variety: groups can combine casino time with bowling, movies, and several dining options without leaving the property. I’d consider it for a Henderson-focused stay or an outing by car, not as a substitute for a walkable Strip vacation. The hotel services fee and limited published pool schedule deserve attention before booking.

What kind of casino is Sunset Station?

Sunset Station fits the Las Vegas locals-casino category, but calling it a neighborhood gambling stop undersells the hotel, restaurants, bowling center, and movie theater. My take is that its appeal is practical rather than spectacular: different members of a group can find something to do in the same complex.

It is on West Sunset Road in Henderson, not on the Las Vegas Strip or in downtown Las Vegas. The address also appears in the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s September 2018 agenda. This location works when Henderson is the destination; it works less well when your itinerary revolves around walking between Strip resorts.

In its June 11, 2025 renovation announcement, Station Casinos said the property’s phased refresh would continue into 2026. That is not a current construction schedule. Ask about work affecting your room or preferred casino areas if disruption would spoil your stay.

Casino games and gambling options

The casino combines machine gambling, live tables, bingo, keno, and sports betting. Its September 2025 sales kit and floor map identify the gaming areas, including high-limit slots and a designated non-smoking slot section.

That breadth is useful, but game selection does not establish better odds. Slot returns, blackjack rules, and video poker pay tables belong to the particular game you choose.

Slots and video poker

Machine players have slots and video poker, with a high-limit slot area for larger wagers. Treat specific titles and denominations as things to locate when you arrive, not guaranteed fixtures.

On slots, check the total wager rather than just the denomination. A penny machine can ask for considerably more than a penny per spin. For video poker, compare pay tables and royal-flush bonus requirements before playing. Two machines with the same game name can pay differently.

A guest’s winning or losing session does not establish whether machines are “loose” or “tight.” I would leave those labels out of the decision.

Table games, bingo, and keno

The traditional table-game mix includes blackjack, craps, roulette, and Pai Gow Poker. Minimum bets and availability change with demand, so do not plan around an assumed $5 minimum.

At blackjack, read the natural-blackjack payout; at roulette, count the zero pockets. Evaluate side bets separately from the main wager. A familiar game name does not make every version an equally good bet.

Bingo and keno offer alternatives to machines and tables. For bingo, check session times and package prices, and arrive early enough to buy in and settle down.

Poker room

Sunset Station has no dedicated player-versus-player poker room. Video poker and Pai Gow Poker are different products, not substitutes for live cash games or poker-room tournaments.

Sportsbook

Sunset Station has an on-property STN Sportsbook & Bar, allowing sports bettors to wager in person without a separate trip to the Strip.

If watching a particular game is the reason for your visit, ask about seating and event-specific arrangements. An open sportsbook does not guarantee an available seat for a major game. Mobile wagering has separate account and location requirements and should not be confused with access to the physical book.

Hotel rooms and the $45.59 services fee

The official accommodation page lists Deluxe King rooms, Deluxe Double Queens, and Petite King Suites. The room directory also lists Petite Double Queen Suites and King Suites. Compare bed arrangements, space, and specific features rather than choosing by category name alone.

I like staying here when the property itself is part of the trip. Dinner, gambling, bowling, and a movie can happen without a journey back to another hotel. For a Strip-heavy itinerary, repeated rides and travel time can eat into the appeal of a lower room rate.

Station Casinos lists a $45.59 tax-inclusive Hotel Services Fee on its fee-inclusions page. Benefits include in-room internet, specified telephone calls, fitness-facility access, and front-desk copy and fax services. The listing does not specify billing frequency, so confirm how the charge applies to your reservation. Inclusions can change.

My booking rule: compare the final reservation total, not the headline room rate. Free parking helps, but it does not cancel out a hotel services fee.

How the published fee compares

Gamboool’s comparison brings together the operator’s published charges and inclusions for selected sister properties. These are advertised fees, not complete hotel prices or identical amenity packages.

Calculation Result Takeaway
Sunset Station versus Boulder Station published hotel service fee $11.70 per published fee charge Boulder Station has the lower published service fee. Compare complete reservation totals and included amenities before choosing; this difference alone does not establish the cheaper stay.
Sunset Station versus Palace Station published hotel service fee $0.25 per published fee charge Palace Station has the lower published service fee, but room rates, transportation needs, and hotel location still belong in the booking comparison.
Green Valley Ranch versus Sunset Station published fee $5.71 per published fee charge Sunset Station has the lower published fee among these Henderson properties. Their fee inclusions differ, so compare the complete stay rather than treating the fees as identical products.
Pool daybed weekend price premium $25.00 per daybed booking at listed prices The listed weekday daybed price is lower, but the displayed pool schedule closes weekdays. Confirm availability and the final booking price before planning around the cheaper listing.
Pool cabana weekend price premium $25.00 per cabana booking at listed prices The published cabana rate increases for the weekend. The weekday listing does not guarantee weekday operation; confirm the pool schedule and booking terms directly.
Weekend cabana upgrade versus a weekend daybed $125.00 per booking at listed prices A daybed is the cheaper listed weekend option. Before upgrading, confirm cabana capacity, included services, and any additional charges.

Method: Published inputs collected 2026-10-14. Illustrative assumptions are labeled, and the full calculation inputs remain in the saved research record. These examples support planning; they do not predict a particular session.

Sunset Station’s published fee is $11.70 higher than Boulder Station’s, $0.25 higher than Palace Station’s, and $5.71 lower than Green Valley Ranch’s. Those differences apply per listed fee charge, not automatically per night.

The Palace Station difference is small enough that I would put location and the room offer first. The Boulder Station gap deserves more attention, but neither comparison identifies the cheaper stay without room rates, taxes, and transportation costs.

Inclusions matter, too. Santa Fe Station’s published benefits include a buy-one-get-one bowling offer for up to four people; Sunset Station’s fee list does not. Having a bowling center is not the same as including bowling in the hotel fee.

Sunset Station separately advertises an Ultimate Family Getaway package with bowling, food and beverage, and Kids Quest. Ask about allowances and compare the package total with buying activities separately. Advance-purchase and longer-stay offers advertise savings of up to 30%, subject to their conditions. “Up to” is a ceiling, not a promise.

Before you book

Budget for an incidental deposit as well as the room bill. The property’s August 2023 group-booking policies specify a $100 deposit at check-in. This is an older group-booking document, so confirm the current amount and its application to your reservation.

  • Total price: Include fees, taxes, and planned transportation.
  • Flexibility: Read cancellation and prepayment terms for your actual rate.
  • Room needs: Confirm bed arrangements, accessible features, and connecting-room requests.
  • Pool plans: Check the schedule for your dates before booking around swimming.

Restaurants and bars

Dining variety is a genuine reason to consider Sunset Station. The group can choose a planned dinner or a quick meal without everyone committing to the same restaurant.

  • Sonoma Cellar Steak House: The upscale steak-and-seafood choice.
  • Pasta Cucina: Sit-down Italian dining.
  • The Oyster Bar: Seafood prepared in front of diners. Allow time for a possible wait.
  • Brass Fork Kitchen & Bar: Café-style comfort food. The 2025 sales kit describes round-the-clock service, breakfast, lunch, dinner, a seated bar, and a pastry shop.
  • Yard House: Another sit-down option in the property’s restaurant inventory.
  • Quick service: Listed choices include Fatburger, Panda Express, Sbarro, Subway, Starbucks, and Ben & Jerry’s.

Individual restaurant hours differ from casino hours. Reserve ahead for a planned dinner on a busy night, and do not assume every counter will be open whenever you get hungry.

STN Sports Bar is also listed on the entertainment page. Ask about drink prices and gambling-related drink requirements rather than assuming casino-bar drinks are complimentary.

Bowling, movies, and live entertainment

The Strike Zone’s 72 lanes make bowling a substantial attraction, not a minor hotel extra. Pool tables, a pro shop, a bar, and arcade entertainment add more options. Check lane availability, league schedules, and rental charges before making bowling the centerpiece of your evening.

The official entertainment page describes the 13-screen Regal Cinema and Cyber Quest arcade and carries event listings. Concerts, comedy, and outdoor events are scheduled attractions, not guaranteed features of every stay.

This is where Sunset Station makes the most sense to me: one complex can accommodate people who want different evenings. That is more useful than an impressive amenity list nobody intends to use.

Pool schedule and rental prices

The official pool page lists Friday through Sunday hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Monday through Thursday closed. This is the displayed schedule, not a year-round guarantee.

Listed weekend rentals are $75 for a daybed and $200 for a cabana, a $125 upgrade. Confirm capacity, included services, and additional charges before paying for the cabana.

The page also advertises weekday rentals despite showing weekday closures. Both weekend rental prices are $25 above their weekday counterparts, but a cheaper weekday listing is no help if the pool is closed. Confirm availability directly.

Parking, transportation, and practical advice

Complimentary parking lots and garages are a meaningful advantage for drivers. Allow extra arrival time for major events, and follow signs for the entrance closest to your destination.

For airport and Strip trips, compare rental-car, taxi, and rideshare costs against your itinerary. Do not budget around an included shuttle unless the hotel confirms one. I would be wary of calling an off-Strip hotel a bargain before accounting for the trips you expect to make.

Smoking, accessibility, and age

Sunset Station is not entirely smoke-free. Its designated non-smoking slot area does not establish a smoke-free route through the rest of the property. If avoiding tobacco smoke is essential, that is a meaningful reason to choose another casino.

For accessibility needs, confirm specific room features and routes directly. A category name does not answer questions about a roll-in shower, transfer space, or distance from an elevator.

You must be 21 or older to gamble. Bring valid government-issued photo identification. Bowling and movies do not make gambling areas suitable places for minors to linger.

Boarding Pass rewards

Sunset Station participates in Boarding Pass. Join before playing if you want eligible gambling tracked, use your card at machines, and ask how table play is rated.

I would take benefits attached to gambling you already intended to do, not spend extra to chase a meal or discounted room. Compare hotel offers with the public booking total, including fee terms.

Who should choose Sunset Station?

Sunset Station suits drivers, Henderson-focused visitors, and groups who want gambling alongside bowling, movies, and several dining choices. I’d choose it when those on-property activities are part of the trip, with free parking making the logistics easier. Compare the complete room price, including the hotel services fee, and check pool availability before booking. Choose a Strip hotel for a walking-focused resort itinerary, or a smoke-free casino if avoiding tobacco smoke is essential.
