BookMaker.eu is still operating and still takes bets from players in most US states. It is an offshore sportsbook with roots in Costa Rica’s BetCRIS group, it is not licensed by any US state regulator, and in June 2026 it took over the customers of its former sister book BetDSI. It is best known for US sports, fast Bitcoin payouts and a long record of paying winners.

Who Runs BookMaker
BookMaker grew out of Costa Rica International Sports, the company now known as BetCRIS, which started taking bets in 1986. The site itself advertises more than 30 years of experience, which makes it one of the oldest names among offshore sportsbooks that serve American bettors. Besides sports betting, it runs a racebook and an online casino.
BookMaker’s help pages say it is fully licensed by the government of Costa Rica to take wagers online. Costa Rica does not run an online gambling licensing system like the ones US states use, and BookMaker publishes no licence number, company registration or legal address. In practice, that means there is no gaming regulator a US player can turn to in a dispute.
In June 2026 BetDSI, an offshore book that had run for more than 25 years and had once operated under the BookMaker umbrella, merged into BookMaker. BetDSI told its customers they would be served through Bookmaker.eu from then on.
Is BookMaker Legal for US Players?
BookMaker is not licensed in any US state, and regulators have started to push back. The Illinois Gaming Board sent BookMaker.eu a cease-and-desist letter on February 11, 2025, as part of a batch aimed at unlicensed offshore books. BookMaker is reported to block Kentucky, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee.
The brand has a long history with US authorities. In May 2011 the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland seized the original bookmaker.com domain along with nine other gambling domains. The company moved to the .eu address and kept operating.
BookMaker’s reputation for paying customers is strong, and the Illinois letter concerns operating without a licence, not unpaid winnings. Even so, if you live in a state with legal online sports betting, a state-licensed book gives you far more protection: your deposits are regulated and complaints go to a state agency.
The Sportsbook
The sportsbook is built around US sports. BookMaker offers pregame and live lines on the NFL, college football, the NBA, college basketball, the NHL and MLB, plus UFC fights, boxing, tennis and the top soccer leagues. Player props cover the major leagues.
Standard bet types are all here: moneylines, spreads, totals, parlays, teasers and futures. For more on combining bets, see our guide to parlays and teasers, and our football betting guide covers the main NFL and college markets.
Changes for Sharp Bettors in 2026
BookMaker has been shifting toward recreational customers. Since March 2026, bettors report that some niche markets, such as World Cup winner odds, NASCAR matchups, some baseball props, WNBA props and college and international baseball, are no longer offered to accounts the book does not treat as recreational. Customer service has confirmed the policy to some of those bettors. The main US markets remain open to everyone.
Live Betting and Mobile
Live betting covers the major US leagues, UFC, tennis and more. There is no native iOS app; you bet through the mobile site in your phone’s browser.
Racebook
Horse racing has its own section, the racebook, which pays rebates on win, place, show and exotic wagers.
The Casino
The casino is a secondary product next to the sportsbook. If you mainly want slot games or table games such as blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps, a dedicated casino will give you a bigger selection.
Banking
Bitcoin is the main way to get paid. BookMaker advertises same-day Bitcoin payouts with no fee. Card deposits are accepted, and bank wire, check and person-to-person payouts are listed too, but those are slower and carry fees. Check the cashier for current minimums and limits before you deposit.
Verdict
BookMaker is one of the longest-running offshore sportsbooks, with deep US markets, a clean layout and quick crypto payouts. The downsides are real: it has no US state licence, Illinois has ordered it to stop serving residents there, and sharper bettors have lost access to some niche markets in 2026. Recreational bettors in states without legal sports betting will find a reliable book; anyone with a licensed option at home should use it.
