Launch and awards
Aristocrat showed The Walking Dead at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas in late 2013, where it drew strong reviews, and announced its launch in January 2014. Early installs included San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in California, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and Borgata in Atlantic City.
In September 2014 the game was named Casino Product of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards in Las Vegas. By then it had been in casinos for about six months, with more than 250 units on floors. Aristocrat’s Vice President of Gaming Operations, Dallas Orchard, called it “an instant, incredible success, with operators and players everywhere responding very positively to the game.”
How the game plays
The Walking Dead is a penny video slot built to feel like an episode of the show. The VERVEhd cabinet shows clips from the series, and the chair has built-in surround sound.
