BetOnline Review: Sportsbook, Casino and Poker Status

BetOnline still takes US players but holds no US state licence. Who runs it, state actions in Michigan and Illinois, its sportsbook, casino, poker and banking.

BetOnline is an offshore sportsbook, casino and poker room that accepts players from most US states. It is based in Panama, operated by Blue High House S.A., and not licensed by any US state regulator. Michigan and Illinois have both ordered it to stop taking their residents’ bets, and it does not serve New Jersey.

Who Runs BetOnline

BetOnline.ag is registered in Panama City and run by Blue High House S.A. It puts sports betting, casino games and poker under one account and one wallet. Poker and betting review sites say it operates under Panamanian licensing. No US state licenses BetOnline, so a US player with a dispute has no state regulator to turn to.

Is BetOnline Legal for US Players?

BetOnline accepts players from most states, but state regulators have stepped up action against it:

  • Illinois: the Illinois Gaming Board sent BetOnline.ag a cease-and-desist letter on February 11, 2025.
  • Michigan: the Michigan Gaming Control Board issued cease-and-desist orders to BetOnline.ag and its sister site SportsBetting.ag on April 28, 2025, for operating without a Michigan licence.
  • New Jersey: BetOnline does not serve New Jersey.

If your state has legal online sports betting, a state-licensed sportsbook gives you protections an offshore book cannot: regulated deposits, published house rules and a state agency to hear complaints.

The Sportsbook

BetOnline is a US-facing book that lists more than 30 sports, and its board is built around the NFL, college football, the NBA, college basketball, MLB and the NHL. You will also find UFC, boxing, tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, darts and table tennis, plus the big soccer leagues, from the Premier League to Spain‘s La Liga. Niche markets come and go with demand, so check the board if you follow a smaller sport such as volleyball. Formula 1 and NASCAR get lines too; see our auto racing betting guide.

BetOnline sportsbook betting board

Football is the centerpiece. NFL and college games carry full-game, half and quarter lines, player props and futures. Our football betting guide covers the main bet types.

Bet Types

Beyond moneylines, spreads and totals, BetOnline offers parlays, if bets, reverses, teasers, player props and futures. Read our guide to parlays and teasers before you combine bets, since the payout rules make a big difference to the price you get.

Live Betting

In-play betting covers most major games, with live spreads, moneylines, totals and a smaller set of in-game props.

Mobile

BetOnline runs in your phone’s browser rather than through an app in the US app stores. The mobile site carries the same sportsbook markets as the desktop site.

Horses, Esports and More

Horse racing has its own racebook section on the same account. Esports have their own section as well, covering League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and Valorant.

The Casino

The casino runs alongside the sportsbook with slots, table games, video poker, specialty games and a live dealer section, all from the same account balance. Games come from several software studios rather than one.

If you are new to table games, our guides explain the rules and house edge of each: blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette, Three Card Poker, Let It Ride, Caribbean Stud, Pai Gow Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Crazy 4 Poker, High Card Flush and the Big Six wheel. For other games, browse our casino games section and our online slots guides.

The casino works on mobile in the browser as well, with no download needed.

Poker

BetOnline’s poker room runs on the Chico Poker Network, which pools players with its sister site SportsBetting.ag.

Games include No Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and its five-card version, Omaha Hi-Lo and fixed-limit games, plus fast-fold Boost tables. Tournaments range from Spin & Go and other sit-and-go formats to multi-table events with progressive knockouts and mystery bounties, and a weekly Sunday Main Event. The room also runs a shared jackpot paid when a strong qualifying hand loses; our guide to bad beat jackpots explains how these work. You can play in a browser or through a downloadable client.

Deposits and Withdrawals

BetOnline takes a wide range of payment methods. Deposits can be made with more than 15 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and USDT, with Visa and Mastercard (some US banks decline these), by person-to-person transfer or by bank wire. Withdrawals go out by crypto, person-to-person transfer, bank wire or check by courier. Crypto is the fastest way to get paid, and one crypto payout every 30 days is free. The methods offered depend on where you live, and the cashier lists current minimums and fees.

Verdict

BetOnline is one of the biggest US-facing offshore brands, with a deep US sports board, a full casino and a poker room open to Americans. It is not licensed in any US state, Michigan and Illinois have ordered it out, and New Jersey residents cannot play. Bettors in states with legal, regulated sportsbooks are better protected at home.
