How the Ghostbusters slot plays
What sets Ghostbusters apart from many themed slot machines is how much of the movie is in the game. The symbols, animations and sounds come from the film, and the bonus rounds are built around its best-known scenes rather than a generic pick screen with a movie logo on top.
In the base game, two wild features can fire at random. In one, between one and four symbols turn wild, and any symbol touching an original wild becomes wild as well. In the other, Slimer slimes one to three whole reels, turning them wild for that spin. A random multiplier of 2x or 5x and cash awards of 50 to 1,000 times the coin value can also land outside the bonus.
Ghostbusters bonus games
Land three Ghostbusters symbols on the middle line to trigger the bonus. One of these rounds is picked:
- Ballroom Buster: you get five shots with the proton pack to catch hidden ghosts. Each ghost caught pays credits, and some carry multipliers.
- Stay Puft: marshmallows fall onto the reels and stick to symbols, where they act as wild multipliers that double qualifying wins.
- Psychic: a matching game where you pick a card to match the one Peter Venkman holds.
- Paranormal Pick: you follow Slimer and choose one of five options. Any choice can win a progressive jackpot, and at maximum bet a prize is guaranteed.
Paranormal Pick is the round players hope for, since it is the only route to the progressive.
Ghostbusters sequels
IGT has kept the license busy. Follow-ups include Ghostbusters 4D, Ghostbusters Plus, Ghostbusters Triple Slime and Ghostbusters: Slimer’s Gone Wild. They share the theme but use their own reels and features, so read the help screens rather than assuming a newer machine plays like the original. IGT’s slot business is now owned by funds managed by Apollo, which combined it with Everi in July 2025 and kept the IGT name.
