Is SportsBetting.ag legal in the US?

Sports betting is legal and licensed in many US states, but only through operators approved by each state. SportsBetting.ag holds no US state licence, so it operates outside those systems. On April 28, 2025, the Michigan Gaming Control Board sent SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline cease-and-desist letters, saying SportsBetting.ag had taken sports, horse racing and political bets and offered casino games to Michigan residents without a licence. Both companies were given 14 days to comply.

The practical risk for players is that there is no US regulator to turn to if a withdrawal is delayed or an account is closed. Check your state’s law before you open an account, and compare other offshore books on our US online sportsbooks page.

Who runs SportsBetting.ag?

SportsBetting.ag and BetOnline share a parent company based in Panama. The two sites share software, a poker player pool on the Chico Poker Network and payment systems. The main differences are their bonus offers.

The sportsbook

The sportsbook covers more than 30 sports. US leagues get the most attention: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and college football and basketball. There are also deep markets on soccer, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, the Champions League and MLS, plus tennis, golf, UFC and boxing, auto racing, esports (League of Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2 and Valorant) and political and entertainment markets.

Football

Football is the biggest betting draw in the US, and SportsBetting.ag covers the NFL and college football with sides, totals, halves, quarters, team totals, player props and futures.

Baseball and basketball

MLB markets include run lines, totals and first-five-innings bets. If you follow the minors, see our notes on Minor League Baseball betting. Basketball covers the NBA and college games, with quarter, half and player prop markets.

Hockey, soccer and other sports

NHL betting includes puck lines and period bets. Soccer lines include Asian handicaps, and fight cards come with method-of-victory and round betting.

Bet types

You can bet spreads, moneylines, totals, player and team props, futures, first-half and quarter lines, parlays and same-game parlays. Parlay pricing is explained in our guide to parlay combinations, and the book also offers alternate lines for players who want to buy or sell points.

Live betting

Live betting is available on all major US and international sports, with moneyline, spread and total prices that move in real time. Cash-out is offered on some markets, while the live prop menu is more limited than the pregame one.

Horse racing

SportsBetting.ag takes horse racing bets alongside sports; Michigan’s regulator listed racing among the bets it found the site accepting. Read the racebook’s house rules on odds and maximum payouts before you bet. If you prefer to bet races in person, see our guide to Las Vegas casinos.

Mobile betting

There is no native app. The site runs in your phone’s browser, with the same sports, bet types and banking as the desktop version.

Casino

SportsBetting.ag also runs a full online casino, sharing its game library with BetOnline. It has slots and table games, including blackjack, baccarat, craps and roulette. Compare its game mix with other offshore casinos before you deposit. Check each blackjack variant’s rules before you play, because payouts and house edge differ between versions.

Poker

The poker room shares its player pool with BetOnline on the Chico Poker Network. For background on online poker and how bad beat jackpots work, see our poker guides.

Deposits and withdrawals

Method Minimum deposit Withdrawals
Crypto (BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, BCH) $20 $25 minimum; usually 24 to 48 hours
Visa, Mastercard $50 Deposit only
Person-to-person transfer, bank wire Varies Check or wire: 5 to 7 business days

One payout every 30 days is free. Further payouts in that period carry a processing fee, which is shown in the cashier before you confirm. Card deposits succeed or fail depending on your bank, so crypto is the more reliable route.

Customer support

Support is open 24/7 by live chat, email and phone. Live chat is the fastest option, and email replies usually come within a day.

Our verdict

SportsBetting.ag is a long-running offshore book for American bettors, with broad sports coverage, solid live betting, a full casino and a shared poker pool with BetOnline. Crypto payouts are quick and the minimums are low. The trade-offs are real: it has no US licence, Michigan has formally ordered it out of the state, only one free payout is allowed every 30 days, and non-crypto withdrawals take a week or more. If your state offers licensed sports betting, that is the safer route.
