Distance from the Luxor to the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Best Ways to Get There
By Steve Beauregard
The distance from the Luxor Hotel and Casino to the Las Vegas Convention Center is 3.3 miles, or 5.3 kilometers.
The fastest, most direct way is staying on the Las Vegas Strip all the way North to Convention Center Drive, where you’ll take a right. It would take ten minutes to drive from the Luxor parking lot, the Convention Center parking spaces.
The 3.3 miles is obviously a long walk, and would take just over an hour for most folks.
You can take a Strip bus route called the SDX bus, and it would take you just under a 1/2 hour to get there. More on that in a moment.
Monorail from Luxor to Las Vegas Convention Center
For convenience sake, by far the best way to get from the Luxor to the Las Vegas Convention Center is by taking the Las Vegas Monorail. The nice thing about the monorail is that it stops directly in front of the Convention Center.
The nearest monorail station to the Luxor is at the MGM Grand. You will want to take the free monorail that goes from the Luxor to the Excalibur, then go over the pedestrian bridge (either to the Tropicana or to the New York – New York Hotel and Casino).
Alternatively, you can also just go through the walkway that connects the Luxor to the Excalibur, however walking the whole way to the MGM monorail station would be about a 3/4 mile walk, since the station is at the far east end of the massive MGM Grand resort. It would take you about 15 minutes to walk it.
As a mentioned, the Las Vegas Monorail will take you from the MGM Grand to the front of the Convention Center. It’s only a ten minute ride, and the monorail cabins are always clean and comfortable. You can get a 24 hour pass for $12, or a 2 day unlimited monorail pass for $22.00
Bus from Luxor to Las Vegas Convention Center
Although the popular and easy Deuce runs up and down the Las Vegas Strip, with bus stops at nearly every casino, it does not stop at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Rather, it stops on the Strip, in front of the Ross Store, just north of Convention Center Drive. From there it’s a .6 mile walk.
The better bus option to get to the Convention Center from the Luxor is the SDX, or “Strip Downtown Express.”
What’s nice about the SDX is that not only is it much faster than the Deuce (because it has less stops), it drops you off right at the Convention Center. On top of that, there’s a bus stop directly across the street from the Luxor.
To get there, walk south towards Mandalay Bay, crossing the Strip at Mandalay Bay Road. The bus stop is just a few feet north of the Strip/Mandalay Bay Road intersection. It’s just a five minute walk.
The SDX runs every 15 or 16 minutes or so, and you’ll be able to purchase bus tickets at the little vending machine right there at the bus stop.
Once on the SDX bus, it’s about a 25 minute ride to the Las Vegas Convention Center from the Luxor bus stop.
