How Far is the Distance from MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Convention Center?

By Steve Beauregard

The distance from the parking garage of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino to the Las Vegas Convention Center is 2.9 miles, or 4.7 kilometers.

It would take you just about ten minutes to drive it, but there is a much easier option, which we’ll discuss further below.

First, to drive from the MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Convention Center, you’ll want to go north on Koval Street, which is the street just east of the MGM Grand Parking Garage.

Tram from MGM Grand to Las Vegas Convention Center

Keep going on Koval for 8/10th of a mile to Flamingo Road, where you’ll take a right, going east. About 1/2 mile away, you’ll take a left on Paradise Road, going north. From there, the Las Vegas Convention Center will be just 1.2 miles up on your right.

As I mentioned, it’s only a 10 minute drive, but that doesn’t count the time walking to the MGM Grand parking garage then finding parking at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Which is why I recommend a different option when going back and forth between the two:

Tram or Monorail from MGM Grand to Las Vegas Convention Center

Having done it myself when going to conventions, the simplest and easiest, most convenient way to get from the MGM to the Convention Center is to take the Las Vegas Monorail.

There is a monorail station on the east side of the hotel, and one directly in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center, meaning you’ll have to walk very little (or little by Las Vegas standards) to conduct your business.

The tram runs 7 a.m. to midnight on Monday, and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday – Thursdays. Friday through Saturday, the tram runs from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.

The monorail runs every 4 to 12 minutes, but during peak times, it runs every 6 minutes.

It takes nine minutes to get from the MGM Grand Station to the Convention Center. The tram is air-conditioned, clean, and the ride is comfortable.

How much are ticket prices to ride the Las Vegas Monorail? Just $12 for a one day, unlimited ride pass. Single ride passes are available for $5, and 2-day passes for $22. Three-day passes will set you back $28.

Bus from MGM Grand to Las Vegas Convention Center

While I’m normally a huge fan of the Deuce, the Las Vegas Strip Bus System, it’s not a good option for this route. While taking buses is cheaper than the Monorail, the ride is much longer (around 30 minutes versus 9 minutes on the monorail).

Walking from MGM Grand to Las Vegas Convention Center

You can do this, but the short route is 2.7 miles away. It would take you around the 50 minute range or so to do it, using the streets behind the casinos, such as Koval Lane, and Paradise Road.

However if you are going to walk it, I’d suggest you take the scenic, more safer route, by walking almost the entire length of the Las Vegas Strip north 1.8 miles, (past the Wynn and Encore), where you’ll take a right on Convention Center Lane.

From there, it’s pretty straightforward, as it is only a 1/2 mile walk from the Strip to the LV Convention Center. This route in total is 3.1 miles and would take you just around an hour to walk it.
